Phase-Out of Bosch Therm 830ES & 940ES Tankless Units in Canada

Bosch Thermotechnology would like to inform you of the phase-out of the
non-condensing gas tankless models 830 ES and 940 ES, in Canada.
This phase-out only applies to Canada (i.e. there are no changes to the
US product portfolio). 

Due to a regulation amending the 2016 Energy Efficiency Regulations

(Amendment 15, SOR/2019-164), which affects appliance efficiency

requirements, all non-condensing gas tankless models will be phased out in Canada. Therefore, Bosch Therm 830 ES and Therm 940 ES will

be phased-out as of December 31, 2019.  Spare parts for these tankless water heaters will still be available for sale in Canada.

Phase-out of Bosch SSB Residential platform boilers SSB 85, 120 & 160

Global Protankless Supply would like to announce that Bosch Thermotechnology has discontinued the full line of Stainless Steel boilers.  The models that have been discontinued are the SSB 85, SSB 120 and the SSB 160.  These boilers are replaced with the Bosch Greenstar Floor-Standing boilers.

Contractors who are looking to purchase an SSB Residential model should use the chart below to reference which Greenstar boiler model is the most suitable alternative. The primary difference is the heat exchanger material, which is stainless steel for the SSB and cast aluminum for the Greenstar, as well as minor variations in the BTU inputs.

Best Condensing Tankless Water Heater - Bosch vs the Competition

Every major tankless water heater manufacturer has a 199,000 BTU condensing tankless water heater. The reason: anything over 200,000 BTUs will not qualify for the coveted Energy Star label.

The entire tankless industry has moved from non-condensing to condensing tankless water heaters due to the high efficiencies and low cost for PVC or polypropylene venting. So, how do you pick the best condensing tankless water heater from such a crowded field?

Rinnai has a few high efficient condensing models also such as the RUCS series but also have the same bottom water connections making it more difficult to replace a standard tank heater.

Bosch Thermotechnology has just discontinued the production of the Bosch Greentherm C950ES & C1050ES models.  These units came set for either Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP).  The Bosch C950ES & C1050ES have been discontinued to make way for the new Bosch Greentherm 9000 series heaters.

Venting Requirements for the New Bosch Greentherm T9900 & T9800 Condensing Tankless Water Heaters

Global Protankless Supply is now carrying the New Bosch Greentherm T9900 & T9800 Condensing Tankless Water Heaters.  This is to cover the venting requirements for the indoor model heaters.  The Bosch T9900 & T9800 models can be vented horizontally out the sidewall of the home or vertically through the roof.  The venting connection and intake hole is on top of the unit and is 2" diameter.  The Bosch Greentherm T9900 & T9800 series heaters can be vented using 2", 3" or 4" PVC, CPVC, PP or ABS.  

The minimum exhaust pipe length is 1 ft (0.3m) of straight vent pipe. The minimum air intake pipe length is 1 ft or one 90° elbow or an air intake grill cap to prevent debris from falling into the appliance.
