Bosch Greentherm 9000 series venting options

Global Pro Tankless Supply is now carrying the Bosch Greentherm 9000 series condensing tankless water heaters.  The new 9000 series heaters can be vented with PVC, CPVC, PP and also ABS-DWV.  The maximum flue temperature is limited to 145 degrees.  Global Protankless Supply is a Z-Flex distributor and we carry the Polypropylene venting and PP venting kits for vertical and horizontal installations.  There is a 1' minimum on the venting.  An external condensate drain T is not required as the heater has a down fired heat exchanger.  There is a condensate drain on the bottom of the heater and needs to be drained in accordance with the installation manual and per local codes.

Below are different options for venting the 9000 series tankless:

1.  Single exhaust vent going vertical or horizontal and intake air taken from the room installed.  This option is for warm climate areas where there is not a problem with cold air coming back down through the exhaust vent.
2.  Twin pipe exhaust and intake for vertical or horizontal installation.  It is recommended that the intake and exhaust be terminated out the same sidewall or roof area.
3.  Concentric vent termination using 3" PVC concentric vent system #196016.  This concentric vent system can be used for horizontal or vertical termination.  All other 3" PVC pictured is sold separately.
4.  Vertical venting system into a chimney using flexible PP.  Please note that the maximum length for the flexible PP is greatly reduced by 60%.  Example: 10 feet of flex PP is equivalent to 25 feet of rigid PP.
5.  Horizontal venting using the Z-Flex Z-Dens 2" Concentric Horizontal Kit (2ZDHK2).  The Z-Flex Z-Dens 2" Concentric Horizontal Kit 2ZDHK2 comes with a concentric termination horizontal, adaptor collinear to concentric, 2 locking clamps & 2 Adaptors CPVC / PVC Coupling to PP.  The Z-Dens 2"/4" Concentric Horizontal Vent Kit (2ZDHK2) is also available in 3"/4" (2ZDHK3) and 4"/6" (2ZDHK4).
6.  Vertical venting using the Z-Flex Z-Dens 2" Concentric Vertical Kit (2ZDVK2).  The Z-Flex Z-Dens 2" Concentric Vertical Kit 2ZDVK2 comes with a concentric termination vertical, adaptor collinear to concentric, 2 locking clamps & 2 Adaptors CPVC / PVC Coupling to PP.  The Z-Dens 2"/4" Concentric Vertical Vent Kit (2ZDVK2) is also available in 3"/4" (2ZDVK3) and 4"/6" (2ZDVK4).
The Z-Flex Z-Dens 2"/4" horizontal and vertical vent kits work well with the New Bosch Greentherm 9000 series gas tankless water heaters.  Please see the models listed below that work for the venting kits.

Venting for Bosch Greentherm C950ES/C1050ES Tankless Water Heaters

This is to explain the venting requirements for the Bosch Greentherm C950ES and Greentherm C1050ES tankless water heaters.  The Bosch Greentherm C950ES and C1050ES are direct vent units and can vent out the sidewall of the home or up through the roof.  The Greentherm units cannot be vented into an existing chimney unless there is nothing else venting into the chimney and that the vent pipe runs all the way up the chimney to a specified rain cap.

The Bosch Greentherm C950ES and C1050ES models can be vented with PVC, CPVC, PP and ABS.  The Greentherm units can be vented with 2", 3" or 4" diameter material. Below are the distances of the length of the exhaust runs.  Please refer to the installation manual for restrictions and clearances.

For further questions on venting and combustion air requirements please refer to the installation manual that comes with the unit or please call Global Pro Tankless Supply at 866-289-4652.

Bosch Greentherm C1050ES & C950ES Venting Limitations

The Bosch Greentherm C1050ES and the Bosch Greentherm C950ES gas tankless water heaters have minimum and maximum venting lengths for the exhaust and intake air.  Please review the specifications below for the two heaters and the size, material and lengths that can be used.

Vent options
The Greentherm C1050ES & C950ES must comply with the following material for exhaust and intake air.

PP common vent
PP twin pipe
PVC schedule 40 ANSI/ASTM D1785
PVC-DWV ANSI/ASTM D2665
CPVC schedule 40 ANSI/ASTM F441
ABS-DWV schedule ANSI/ASTM D2661

The Greentherm C1050ES & C950ES have many different ways they can vent such as horizontal or vertical and can use different types of material for venting and intake air.  There is the Polypropylene up and out concentric vent kit, Polypropylene common vent system if you are cascading more than one unit and up to 4 units, PVC Concentric vent kit, you can do a twin pipe PVC vent, etc.

Maximum vent lengths for exhaust, intake air and use of elbows  for the Greentherm C1050ES & C950ES are listed below:

Bosch Integra 500 Tankless Water Heater

The Bosch Integra 500 Condensing tankless water heater is a top performance, fully condensing gas tankless water heater from Bosch. This 199,000 BTU heater is designed for residential applications and can deliver hot water up to 140 degrees F with a 10.5 GPM flow rate.  Not approved for space heating applications.
Bosch Integra 500 Condensing Tankless Water Heater

This Energy Star approved tankless water heater can produce enough hot water for 2-3 major applications in most homes.

Unlike traditional non-condensing models, condensing technology captures heat from the exhaust gas and uses it to preheat the incoming cold water. This increases efficiency and reduces emissions -- well ahead of the 2012 Low NOX emissions standards set by SCAQMD (California -- South Coast Air Quality Management District).

The Bosch Integra 500 features an electronic ignition system and can vent through either 3 inch or 4 inch diameter PVC vent pipe either through the side wall or up through the roof. A concentric venting option is available.

The Bosch Integra 500 comes with built-in Freeze Protection and is the same as the Bosch Therm C 1050 ES tankless water heater except that it also comes with a 3/4" PRV and an External Water Filter. The Integra 500 has a white cover and the Bosch C 1050ES has a silver cover.  Both heaters are 199,000 BTUs and have the same temperture rise.

The Bosch C800ES is the same as the Bosch Integra 500 and the Bosch Therm C 1050 ES tankless water heater except that it comes with a 3/4" PRV and it does not come with built-in freeze protection.  The External Water Filter is optional, but recommended.  The freeze prevention kit is designed to provide protection for the water heater down to approximately 5°F for short term conditions only. It will not protect the appliance in areas where the temperature is routinely expected to be below freezing.  The freeze prevention kit will not protect plumbing outside the appliance from freezing.

The Bosch Integra 500 comes with a limited 15 year warranty on the heat exchanger and 5 years on all other parts.  Service and labor costs are not covered.
