Bosch FW200 Phase-Out and Replaced with CRC200 with Outdoor Reset

Bosch Thermotechnology Corp. just announced changes in two controllers for the residential Greenstar boiler line.  The Bosch FW200 weather compensating controller will be phased out once inventory is depleted, currently expected at the end of 2019.  The Bosch CRC200 thermostat manufactured December 2019 and later will now have outdoor reset capability in addition to all its current features. To enable this functionality of the controller, an outdoor temperature sensor is required (sold separately).  All Greenstar wall boiler models that include a CRC200 in the package will also have the updated controller implemented in production starting in December 2019.

Bosch FW200 Weather Compensating Control Compatibility

The Bosch FW200 Weather Compensating Control is "not" compatible with the Bosch CZM100  zone manager, Bosch CRC100 and CRC200 room controllers.  The Bosch CZM100 zone manager, CRC100 and CRC200 room controllers are BUS driven controllers and the FW200 is not.  All of the Bosch Greenstar gas-fired boilers come with the CRC200 Comfort room controller and the CRC200 has an indoor reset that adjusts the unit to the temperature inside the home and works very well.  The CRC100 and the CRC200 room controllers can both be used in conjunction with the Bosch CZM zone manager.

The only time someone would want to use the Bosch FW200 Weather Compensating Control is if they only have 1 zone and do not want to use the Bosch CRC200 that comes with the boiler.  The Bosch FW200 "will" work in conjunction with other zone managers manufactured by any other brand except for Bosch.  Some of the zone managers that will work with the FW200 are companies like Taco, Grundfaus, etc. The FW200 has an outdoor reset for temperature control and the CRC200 room controller has an indoor reset.

Bosch Greenstar Wall-Hung Boilers Now Come With CRC200 Comfort Room Controller

All of the Bosch Greenstar Wall-Hung boilers now come with the CRC200 Comfort Room Controller.  The Wall-Hung Greenstar boilers used to come with the FW200 Weather Compensating Controller but that is now sold as an accessory. The Bosch Greenstar Floor-Standing boilers do not come with a thermostat.

The CRC200 is a programmable controller with an integrated temperature sensor and can be used as a boiler control or in conjunction with the CZM100 Comfort Zone Manager as a room controller. It comes with back light and features a time program for heating and indirect hot water tank.

The user interface is used to control a heating zone and a Domestic Hot Water (DHW) tank charging circuit for water heating directly at the heat source. The user interface displays information about the heat source and heating system and is used to change the settings.

A maximum of 8 heating zones is permitted when connected to several CZM100 Comfort Zone Managers. Water heating may be controlled with or without time program. Installation options: On the wall with a BUS connection to a heat source or CZM100 module with an EMS-BUS Interface (Energy Management System).
