Bosch Greenstar CRC200 Comfort Room Control

The CRC200 Comfort Room Control is a programmable controller with an integrated temperature sensor and can be used as a boiler control or in conjunction with the CZM100 Comfort Zone Manager as a room controller. It comes with back light and features a time program for heating and indirect hot water tank.

The user interface is used to control a heating zone and a DHW tank charging circuit for water heating directly at the heat source. The user interface displays information about the heat source and heating system and is used to change the settings.
A maximum of 8 heating zones is permitted when connected to several CZM100 Comfort Zone Managers. Water heating may be controlled with or without time program. Installation options: On the wall with a BUS connection to a heat source or CZM100 module with an EMS-BUS Interface (Energy Management System). PCB Control Boards for Powerstream Pro & Bosch Tronic 5000 Electric Tankless


The PCB control board (Printed Circuit Board) is a thermostatically controlled circuit board that allows the whole house electric tankless water heater, models WH17, WH27 & WH36, to be manually controlled by a temperature dial that would range in temperature from 86-131 degrees. The PCB in conjunction with a flow transducer enables the PCB to turn on additional elements in the heater as necessary depending on the amount of gallons per minute (gpm) flowing through the heater.

The PCB would recognize many factors in the function of the heater to maintain a steady temperature and all of this is determined on where the temperature knob is set to, the gpm flowing through the heater, and the temperature of the incoming ground water.

To obtain the maximum heating potential of the Bosch Tronic 5000 electric tankless water heater it must be wired correctly and have the full required voltage to the unit. The Bosch Tronic 5000 WH17 would require 2 independent double pole 40 amp breakers wired with 8 gauge wire and could draw a maximum of 80 amps at full flow through the heater. The WH17 would require the home to be supplied with a minimum of a 150 amp service. The Bosch Tronic 5000 WH27 would require 3 independent double pole 40 amp breakers wired with 8 gauge wire and could draw a maximum of 120 amps at full flow through the heater. The WH27 would require the home to be supplied with a minimum of a 200 amp service.  The Bosch Tronic 5000 WH36 would require 3 independent double pole 60 amp breakers wired with 6 gauge wire and could draw a maximum of 180 amps at full flow through the heater. The WH36 would require the home to be supplied with a minimum of a 300 amp service.

The maximum inlet water temperature allowed into the electric tankless is 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Bosch Tronic 5000 WH17, WH27 & WH36 have had many upgrades and engineering improvements over the years. In January 2007 the WH17(RP17PT) & WH27(RP27PT) went from having copper canisters that contain the heating elements to an upgraded Polymer module. The PCB control board was also upgraded to maintain a more steady temperature that works with the heating elements in the polymer modules.

Bosch Therm 520PN NG & LP Tankless Water Heater

The new Bosch Therm 520PN comes set for either NG (Natural Gas) or LP (Liquid Propane).  The 520PN has a standing pilot and is a naturally drafting heater and requires no power to operate.  This unit is basically for 1 major application at a time such as 1 shower at a time.  The Bosch 520 PN Needs to be vented vertically with a 5" B-vent up through the roof for a minimum of 6' to the raincap.  If the heater has to be vented out the sidewall then you must use the AQ4 Powervent kit and this kit would require 110V power.  The gas connection at the bottom of the heater is a standard 3/4" connection.


The new Bosch Therm 520PN is a direct replacement for many of the older model heaters.  Below is a list of the units that the 520PN would replace.  Please keep in mind to always be aware of gas line sizing and the length of the gas line run.

The Bosch Therm 520PN could replace:

Bosch 1600P or 1600H: (If either one of these units was vented horizontally out the sidewall with the AQ4 powervent kit then that same AQ4 powervent kit can be used for the new Bosch Therm 520PN)

Bosch Aquastar 125B, 125X, 125HX, 425PN or the 425HN: (If any of these units was vented horizontally out the sidewall with the AQ1 powervent kit then that AQ1 powervent kit WILL NOT work for the new Bosch Therm 520PN.  You would need to install the new AQ4 powervent kit for the new Bosch Therm 520PN)

ELM Le Blanc 170VP or 125VP:  (If either one of these units was vented horizontally out the sidewall with the AQ1 powervent kit then that AQ1 powervent kit WILL NOT work for the new Bosch Therm 520PN.  You would need to install the new AQ4 powervent kit for the new Bosch Therm 520PN)

The Bosch Therm 520PN is a direct replacement for the older tankless water heaters listed above but you still always want to make sure and refer to the installation manual and follow the gas line sizing chart and venting requirements.  Please also refer to local code for all other restrictions and approvals.

Bosch Therm 660EF/660EFO Remote Controller


The Bosch Therm 660EF/660EFO Wired Remote Controller, part number BRC01US is specifically designed for the Bosch Therm 660EF/660EFO units.  The wired remote gets wired to the Bosch 660EF/660EFO unit using 18 ga wire and can be installed up to 300' maximum away from the heater.

The wired remote should be installed in a location that is accessed easy from the main point of hot water use such as on the bathroom wall.  The default setting for the 660EF/660EFO is 120° F.  For most residential applications, the recommended setting is 120° F. 125° water is scalding and is very dangerous.

The Bosch Therm 660EF/660EFO gas tankless water heaters come with wired, marked connectors in the unit by the main control board.  The wired connectors are marked, 120°, 130°, 140° and 160°.  You must have the remote controller to achieve the 160° temperature. 

The remote control comes with many special options.  The remote control will give error codes on the display in the event of a problem (refer to the service manual or contact Bosch Technical Support for error codes and troubleshooting).  The upper limit of the hot water supply temperature can be changed to 100°F, 105°F, 110°F, 115°F, 120°F, 125°F, 130°F, 135°F, 140°F and up to 160 with the remote control.  There is also a unique flow meter alarm setting on the remote control.

The flow meter alarm setting can be used to set a desired amount of gallons of water maximum that is normally used.  As an example:  say your bath tub holds 50 gallons of hot water.  You can press and hold the flow meter alarm until it starts flashing and then set the remote to a maximum of 42 gallons of water.  So when you go and fill the bathtub with hot water and once the remote senses it has flowed 42 gallons of water an alarm will sound and then you would have to physically go and shut the water off at the source.  The alarm will stop after 10 seconds.

Bosch has a new line of Greenstar Gas-Fired Wall-Hung Condensing Boilers and they are all very efficient and simple to set and operate.  Space heating boiler for connection to a hot water tank with unsurpassed performance and control. With special insulation to ensure ultra quiet operation and the exclusive keypad safety lock feature to prevent unwanted tampering with heating controls, this unit is the ideal "green" upgrade for detached & terraced houses and is also suitable for apartments.



There are 5 different model Greenstar Boilers designed for space heating only and they are sized by thier BTU capacity.

  • These Greenstar condensing space heating boilers can be used for either Natural Gas or Liquid Propane installations.   The heaters come preset for Natural Gas (NG), but can be converted to Liquid Propane (LP).  A gas conversion kit is included.

    The Greenstar boilers come with a temperature control FW 200 that can either be mounted to the heater or mounted to the wall beside the heater.  This module allows the heater to be set for different temperatures, zones and the time of day the heater comes on and goes off.  The FW 200 control also comes with a temperature probe that goes to the outside and detects and monitors the outside temperature and then allows the heater to remember the coldest and warmest times of the day and year.

    The Greenstar condensing space heating boilers are specifically designed for space heating only but can also be used for Domestic Hot Water (DHW) when they are piped to an indirect tank and using a pump, aquastat and check valves.

    Flow & Temperature Adjustment for Bosch Therm 330PN

    The new Bosch Therm 330PN comes in either natural gas or liquid propane and has a control knob for adjusting the water flow and a slide adjustment for adjusting the heat on the front of the heater.

    The Bosch Therm 330PN is a 75,000 BTU Gas Tankless Water Heater. This gas tankless water heater is for camps, cottages and low water flow applications.  The control knob on the right is the Temperature Adjustment knob and is for adjusting the flow of water through the heater which has the ability to speed the flow of water up making it cooler or slowing it down and making it hotter. The slide control in the middle is for adjusting the temperature of of the water by adjusting the height of the flame. When the slide is positioned on the small flame symbol the burners will be low and when the slide is on the high flame symbol the burners will get higher and the temperature hotter.

    Below is how turning the Temperature Adjustment knob effects the heater:

    As the temperature adjustment knob is turned counter-clockwise, the output temperature will lower and the activation rate of the heater will be raised. Turning the knob clockwise will raise the temperature and lower the activation rate.

    When sliding the slide adjustment to the left, (small flame symbol) the heater will give lower flame and cooler temperatures and sliding the slide to the right will give hotter tenmperatures and a higher flame.

    The Bosch Therm 330PN has a gas control slide that modulates burner input in response to flow. Its purpose is to ensure that the hot water temperature will remain steady, although the water flow demand might vary.

    Bosch 520HN Power & Temperature Control knobs


    The new Bosch Therm 520HN that comes in either natural gas or liquid propane has 2 new control knobs for adjusting temperature and flow on the front of the heater as the older Bosch AquaStar 125 series heaters only had 1 control knob to adjust flow.

    The Bosch 520HN has 2 control knobs on the front of the heater. The control knob on the left is the Power control knob and allows you to set the height of the burners for hotter temperatures or cooler temperatures. The control knob on the right is the Temperature Adjustment knob and is for adjusting the flow of water through the heater which has the ability to speed the flow of water up making it cooler or slowing it down and making it hotter.

    Below is how turning the Temperature Adjustment knob effects the heater:
