Using Bosch Gas Tankless Water Heaters For Breweries & Distilleries

Did you know that it takes many gallons of hot water to make nice cold beer and this is why many breweries around the United States are starting to integrate gas tankless water heaters into their system. The Bosch gas tankless water heater keeps a more stable temperature and delivers endless gallons of hot water.

There are many different Bosch Gas tankless water heaters to choose from but the largest is the Bosch Therm C1210ESC commercial unit and comes in either Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane Gas (LP).  The Bosch C1210ESC has a max temperature of 180 degrees and is great for brewing or cleaning the storage tanks.  The Bosch Greentherm C1050ES is also another great unit for a Brewery. The Bosch Greentherm C1050ES can reach temperatures up to 140 degrees F but after adding the high temperature kit the unit can also go up to 180 degrees F.  Depending on the size of the Brewery and the amount of hot water needed at one given time the Bosch gas tankless water heaters can be cascaded together to deliver more gallons per minute (gpm).  The Bosch Greentherm C1050ES can be cascaded with up to 24 units and deliver up to 290 GPM of hot water.

Depending on your needs for hot water and the amount used at one given time there are different applications such as tank loading as this may be more easy to use and store the hot water.

For your hot water brewing needs please call Global Pro Tankless Supply at 866-289-4652 to go over the many different Bosch gas tankless water heaters and the applications they can cover.

Bosch Gas Tankless Water Heaters and Tank Loading Applications

Global Pro Tankless Supply is always trying to make it easier to figure out the right Bosch tankless water heater that is designed for the right application.  A tank load system, because of the added storage, can provide a high peak flow with fewer tankless units and lower installed cost. This will cover the basics for a tank loading application that will enable the user to have more domestic hot water and can also be set up for heating applications.  The Bosch gas tankless models such as the C1210ESC/C1210ES/C1050ES/C950ES/940ES and 830ES are all capable and designed to work with a tank loading applications.  Tank loading can be done using a standard tank heater as a storage tank or an indirect tank such as the Bosch SST Indirect Storage Tanks.

Many of the tank loading applications range from small singular tank loading to commercial tank loading such as for hotels and Inns.  Please see the diagram below for a basic design of a tank loading application.

For all the different tank loading applications please review the Bosch Applications Manual or call Global Pro Tankless Supply at 866-289-4652.

Bosch Tankless Water Heaters with New Built-In External Water Filters

Bosch Thermotechnology is always improving the gas-fired tankless water heaters and has recently improved all the sealed combustion tankless water heaters and have added a new hydraulic block on the bottom of all the units that incorporates a new built in external water filter.

The Bosch Greentherm C950ES and Bosch Greentherm C1050ES condensing heaters were designed with the new hydraulic block and external water filter built in.  The Bosch Therm C1210ES/ESC, Bosch 940ES and the Bosch 830ES have recently had the new hydraulic block and external water filter added.  After Serial number beginning with "301" will have the built in external water filter.
Built-in External Water Filter
All of the older Bosch "Therm" models before serial number 301 had the external water filter, part #8703035356 and was sold as an accessory.

Bosch Neutralizers for Condensing Boilers and Water Heaters

Bosch recently has started to carry the Condensate Neutralizers for all the Bosch condensing boilers and Bosch tankless water heaters.  Condensate Neutralizers are recommended on all condensing equipment and should be serviced annually. Currently we offer 6 different JJM condensate neutralizers that cover the entire product range from the smallest output of 57,000 BTU (16kW) to the largest of 5,443,000 BTU (1,550kW).

Below is a list of what condensate neutralizer to use for each Bosch condensing boiler and Bosch tankless water heater.

The JM-2C & JM-2C PLUS can be used for any boiler or tankless water heater up to 200,000 BTU.

The JM-6C must be used for the Bosch C1210ES/ESC as it is over 200,000 BTU

Please call us at 866-289-4652 for more information and pricing.

Using Bosch Tankless for Domestic Hot Water Recirculation

Bosch tankless water heaters can be used in recirculation applications and there are many different set ups for this such as direct recirculation and indirect recirculation.  Certain models of the Bosch tankless water heaters are approved for direct recirculation and are listed below.  Please be aware that the heat exchanger warranty of 15 years will be reduced to 3 years for direct recirculation.  This is stated in the warranty section of the installation manual.   All of the Bosch tankless water heaters can be set up for an indirect recirculation application in conjunction with a mini tank, recirculation pump and aquastat as described in the image below. The warranty for recirculation through an indirect mini-tank and not directly through the heater is 15 years.

Bosch tankless water heaters approved for direct recirculation:
Bosch Therm C1210ES
Bosch Therm C1210ESC (Commercial Unit)
Bosch Greentherm C1050
Bosch Greentherm C950
Bosch Therm 940ES
Bosch Therm 830ES

Bosch Therm C1210ES/ESC vs Bosch Pro GWH C920ES/ESC

Recently the Bosch Pro GWH C920ES/ESC was changed to the new model name Bosch Therm C1210ES/ESC. The model name was changed to reflect gallons per minute (gpm) at a 35 degree temperature rise. So the Bosch Therm C 1210 ES/ESC reflects a 35 degree temperature rise at 12.1 gpm. Along with this name change came many new features:

  • Comes equipped with freeze prevention now.
  • Has the capability to accept preheated water up to 140 degrees and is approved for Domestic Hot Water (dhw) and space heating applications in conjunction with an indirect tank.
  • Has the ability to be cascaded using the Intelligent Cascade Kit for up to 24 units and would produce up to 290 gpm.
The Bosch Therm C1210 ESC commercial unit also has the ability to reach a maximum temperature of 180 degrees for commercial use.

The temperature range for the Bosch C1210ES is from 100 - 140 degrees. With the use of the Bosch Therm High Temperature Kit the unit would have the ability to reach up to 180 degrees.
